Information
Small, brownie sized elves. They are quasi-immortal and have the appearance of elves but are the size of brownies, at 8-12 inches in height. They have light brown or reddish brown skin, blue or gray eyes, and black, brown, or brunette hair. They have complex societis and dwell in tree cities, which are high rises carved out of the inside of trees. They have perfected this craft in a way that does no harm whatsoever to the trees, and burrow tunnels underground to access their tree homes from beneath. They share many things in common with their larger cousins, the Redwood Elves. One of the things they share in common is that they have strict forest territories which their Troops are not permitted to leave, unless such a journey abroad is approved by the Troop Chieftain, which he rarely will, and even asking to leave their Kingdom's boundaries puts a Brown-Elf at risk of being considered an upstart. These elves have generations of wood sculpters, carpeters, boat builders, and wood crafters, and they build exquisite homes and furniture out of wood. The boats they build are used for traversing creeks, and rivers, but even by waterways, it is forbidden to cross their boundaries. They have also perfected the arts of hiding and evasion, and setting traps and snairs. When the giants (large animals, humans, or human-sub-races) enter their domain, they make themselves invisible, even the archers, spearmen, catapult and slingmen hidden in the trees and foliage, ready to attack any giant who tries to harm their people or their domain. Where large monsters are concerned, which are impossible for them to defend against, they simply hide until the danger passes. They will not attack the giants, people in particular, unless given little other choice, for it is very hard for them to know if the giant is mortal or not. Few even know this race of small elf-like brownies exists, although a very few 'giants' have gained the trust of these elusive people. These people have healers as well, who are very adept at the skills of medicinal healing, with plants and minerals, and in treating wounds, and Animal Trainers who capture young animals such as Raichs (mink and ferrets), Rats, Squirrels, Mice, Ravens, and Rabbits to train them as trackers, guards, and mounts.
