Information: A large rodent the size of a very large boar or small horse which has an appearance between a rat and a boar. This animal's nose is long, whiskered, tapered and has a dished bend which makes the nose point slightly upward. They have high shoulders covered with a stiff mane of dense hair and a thick neck which merges with the head and shoulder making it hard to tell where the neck, shoulder and head begin. Midway between a rounded head and a broad but shallow chest are largish half-round, rat shaped ears. Their eyes are typically beady and the whiskers at the end of their nose are stiff. Their deep mouths are full of large sharp teeth with flatter grinding teeth in the back. Their manes aside; they have very short hair which varies in color according to their region, brown striped with black in jungles, tan motled with various shades of brown in deserts, light brown in grasslands, and grey motled with black spots and leg striping in the mountains. Unlike most rodents targa have naked hooved feet like a pig. Born the size of a piglet they can reach very large sizes and are even used as mounts by goblins and Draeven wild elves (a branch of shadowland elves). Targa are also used to guard areas inasmuch as they are very territorial. Because these animals are highly territorial, they can be dangerous if encountered in the wild. Targa are the only rats that are prized for their meat which is very tender and pork-like in flavor but lean.

Info: Large silvery-gray rat with umber brown legs and tail. Lives near streams. Clawed feet with webbing. These rats are excellent swimmers and feed exclusively on fish, mollusks, and crustaceans either at the edges of seas or freshwater by lakes and rivers. Shy animals. Often found in conifers where it nests, sleeps, and hunts. Length up to 18 inches.

Most have white fur, which is very fluffy and soft, although some have grey spots, bands, or peppering in their fur. Their ears are slightly larger than most rats and are quite fuzzy, while their face and the area around their large beady eyes is covered by shorter fur. Their deep mouths are full of large sharp teeth with flatter grinding teeth in the back. Born the size of a piglet they can reach very large sizes and are even used as mounts by goblins and wild shadowland elves dwelling in cold regions. These rats are often tamed as pets or used to guard areas inasmuch as they are intelligent and easily trained. Because these rats see people as prey they can be dangerous if encountered while hungry in the wild. These rats are valued for their soft, white fur.
Carnath :: Imp Rat
Info: A giant rat, these rodents are as large as swine, and are black in colour with gray lateral bands. Some are jet black, and others are solid gray. They are unpredictable and may or may not be hostile. They are very curious and have been known to wander into camps. Opportunists, they will eat or hunt almost anything that is edible to them. Like other giant rat species; they are often kept as pets or guards.

Information: This rat is a Fresh and Saltwater mammal and is a large, common rat the size of a beaver, with webbed feet and a long, thick tail. They swim very well and can hold their breath under water up to two hours. They eat fish, clams, and crustaceans. These rats are good to eat and have glossy, water resistant fur which makes good fur coats.
