    Information:  Large, mastiff-like, wild dog.  They are dark red with a tan or brown muzzle, and perk ears.  Some are brindle as well.  Gate hounds are very muscular with broad chests, long, strong legs, and very powerful muzzles.  These dogs can be domesticated if raised as pups and form strong bonds with families, while they are very guarded around strangers.  They see their family as their pack and guard their den entrances (which is originally why they were called gate hounds), and their territory as fiercely when domesticated as they guard the turf around their dens in the wild.  They are named also for being excellent guard dogs for gates.  Dominant Gate Hounds are very hard to train and can be dangerous.  Those who are wise to this breed of wild dog chooses pups that fall between the dominant and submissive dogs.  The subs tend to be nervous and more prone to snapping and biting out of fear or defense.  These dogs inhabit semi-arid to arid lands in the wild and compete with other wild dogs and animals for dens.  They prefer caves.

    Stats: Strength-9, Stamina-18, Bite-3, Claws-2, Mvm-16, HP: 162, Lifespan of 50 years.

These dogs are solitary and can be domesticated, but are 'one person dogs', which attach themselves to one person and are aloof, and guarded, of the rest.

Swift Dog :: Hautep

Oasis Hautep

    A fairly common color and the Hautep most commonly domesticated as it frequents desert oases where they are exposed to people far more often than more isolated breeds.

Spotted Hautep

    These small dogs have some color and marking variations according to the region they occupy. Some may be brindle, spotted or have cream instead of black points, or have white or cream bellies, socks and or throats with or without black or dark brown points. Spotted Hautep like this one are from desert scrub regions.

    Stats: Bite-4, Claws-2, Strength-8, Stamina-21, Mvm-17. HP: 168, Lifespan of 45 years. WP: 24 Dex: 18 Reflx: 21

    Information: (how-tep) These strange little wild dogs are built like whippets, are slightly smaller than whippets, but have perk ears like a Chihuahua, and a face like a bull terrier, with long whiskers. They have very long, slender tails which curl up at the end. Hautep are dun in color, while their tails, legs and ears darken to black, dark brown, or dark gray. Their fur is very short and silky smooth. These dogs are swift and hunt rabbits, birds, and other small animals. Hautep have long, sharp claws they use to dig for prey as well, their whiskers acting like feelers in the holes they dig. They also dig tunnels to den. These wild dogs are solitary unless mating and raising their young. Their pack units stay together for five years. This insures that food resources in their territories are not depleted, for these dogs will inhabit a small territory of up to one acres their entire lives, unless driven out. Hautep inhabit tropical and subtropical grasslands, drylands, deserts, shorelines, and forest or jungle fringes. These dogs domesticate well, and even adults can be tamed with patience, though they love to dig!

Baying Hound :: Sidua

    Stats: Bite-6, Claws-4.  Strength-11, Stamina-22, Mvm-16, HP: 242, Lifespan of 60 years.  WP:  25  Dex: 16  Reflx: 17

    Information:  (shEd-wah) These wild dogs inhabit grasslands, and hound their prey by baying at them, while other dogs flank their quarry and try to get ahead of it so that the baying hounds can guide their prey into a trap.  Baying hounds are large but streamlined dogs built for running.  They have long legs, large rib-cages, lanky high shoulders, long bodies and unusual faces with a very slight forhead that slopes to the muzzle.  Their necks are fairly long, arched and strong.  The head is rectangular and rounded, and the muzzle has a slight rise in the bridge between the forhead and nose which slopes gradually to the nose.  They are solid gray (dark, light, brownish, blueish, or silver), except for the black ring around their large, ice blue eyes, the black striping on their legs, and their medium sized, perked, ears, which are tipped with black. Their ears are a fleshy pink inside.  Their tails are long, thin and curl at the end.  These dogs inhabit warm lands, and semi-arid lands in the wild.

Dragon Hounds of Sgaith Andor :: Hadrah

Pair of Hadrah

    The first pair of Hadrah seen by human eyes.

    Stats:  Bite-35, Claws-10.  Jaw Strength-35.  Mvm-15.  Strength-19.  Stamina-21.  HP: 399, Lifespan of up to 120 years.  WP: 28 Dex: 18  Reflx: 20

    Information:  Huge, lion-sized dogs that are built like a mastiff but have many traits of a wolf.  They have very broad heads, and though their muzzles are also wide, they are long as well.  They have short manes and perk ears like wolves.  They range in color like many of earth's wolves, and have thick, medium long, soft fur.  They are muscular, broad chested dogs, and are not only built for strength, but with long bodies, legs, and large lungs for running, like a wolf.  These dogs are also called dragon hounds, for they share the same domains as dragons in many cases, and have learned to kill dragons when their territory is invaded by a wyrm.  As pack hunters, they circle a dragon (or other large animal) and lunge in and out at the dragon, taking bites out of it until it is weakened, whereas the entire pack gets bolder and starts attacking all at once.  Hadrah Hounds have very strong jaws, and once they latch on, it is very hard to shake them loose, unless you are a dragon.  Hadrah hounds have tight societies and their packs form strong bonds. Alpha males and females will mate for life, or until one of them is killed.  These dogs can be domesticated if raised from pups.  Dragon Slayers have domesticated and trained these dogs for aiding them in hunting dragons.

Wilder Dog :: Cumhas

    Stats: Bite-6, Claws-4. Mvm-14, Strength-9, Stamina-18,  HP: 162, Lifespan of 120 years.  WP:  24 Dex: 17  Reflx: 19

    Information:  (koo-vahs) These medium-large wild dogs are calico and their colors vary between two breeds; The Bhasra Cumhas (desert wild dogs) and the Gormyth Cumhas (mountain wild dogs). The desert variety has a dun undercoat and is marbled with umber, chestnut, brown, and amber. The mountain variety has a black undercoat and is marbled with the same colors. Their bodies are long with an even rib-cage and gut, that narrows at the loins. Their legs are fairly short in comparison to their bodies, and they have tails much like a fox or wolf. Cumhas have black perked ears which are gray or pink inside. Their heads are the color of their undercoat with a patch of marbled fur around their eyes which decends to the throat. They are very wolf-like in their faces, and they have medium-long, soft fur like wolves. These wild dogs form tight knit packs. They are rarely ever domesticated because their instincts simply cannot be bred out of them. Few know how to act dog-like and feral enough to control these wild dogs. They are very unpredictable if kept as pets.

Arid Wild Dogs :: Rha Cumhas

    Stats: Bite-6, Claws-4, Mvm-18.  Strength-12, Stamina-23,  HP: 276, Lifespan of 50 years.  WP:  24 Dex: 17  Reflx: 19
