Information

    Levels 5-21
Demon which can take a large (pony sized) wolf form and maintain all his advantages. In demon form they stand upright, are furred, have wolf ears and tail, but facial features and a build that are somewhat humanoid. These demons do not have a subrace form.

Lycanthrope developed from the Wogmor breed of demon in the 11th Age when a 2nd generation Wogmor named Erugoth was attacked by what remained of a pack of diseased dire wolves, the rare disease similar to rabies with the exception of being a lasting infection of violent madness which the animal could survive the deteriorative ravages of as long as it could hunt and consume flesh. The disease is called Valdaru, the wasting madness. In his own rage; Erugoth had gorged himself on the blood and flesh of the great wolves that had mutilated his own body with their vicious attacks, and as he did so his wounds bled into theirs, and theirs into his. A week later he found himself being hunted by the very same animals which he had intentionally altered into demons with his blood. They had gained an intelligence they had never experienced before, but their minds had also been degenerated by the disease they had survived for so long. The wolves were strong now, as powerful as Erugoth, and defeated him in a savage fight. The wolves devoured Erugoth, his bones included, and in doing so took the elven Wogmor's spirit, oneness with nature, and power into themselves. The disease which had infected them, their evolution into demons, and their devouring of their incidental sire had altered them genetically. They could infect others with inescapable change, power, immortality, or long lives, and did so in their madness rabidly. People who survived their attacks, if the beasts lapped at their wounds long enough to infect them, became as dire wolves and half-wolves in form if they should see the moons when they were at their fullest, for Erugoth had been a moon and shadow elemental as an elf and had a deep connection with the elven deities of the moon, who were shape-shifters. Other large animals such as wolves, lions, tigers, and even large deer that survived the wolves' attacks became carriers of the infection and attained the ability to speak telepathically, to think and act as sentient creatures, became quasi-immortal, developed unique powers, and those people they attacked and spared were sired into each of those animals' half-lives. In time these rabid, sentient animals were hunted down and killed, although a few survived to evolve into a lycanthrope bestial breed. The legacy of those people the predecessors had altered evolved rapidly, within a span of less than five-hundred years, into the lycanthrope that marked the 11th Age and are known in Morashtar today. The first werewolf was sired out of a Neffari who was exploring the mountains. He was later renamed Erugoth by his pack in memory of the elf whose life had been lost to shaping the inadvertent creation of their race. Erugoth, the High Alpha leader of the first lupine packs, made it unlawful to sire by force.
